Barony Of Fenix
We are a local branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc that covers the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area. The SCA is an international, educational, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the re-creation and study of pre-17th century technology and culture.Yeah, yeah, you’ve heard that already. So what does that mean? Well, in plain terms, the purpose of the SCA is first and foremost to have fun.
We dress up in period clothes and get together to show off what we’ve learned from our research, and to teach others what we know. But that’s the barebones explanation. To expand that, think of it this way: Re-creating the past not as it was, but as it should have been. Some people go all out and spend their time in the SCA striving for perfect, period accuracy, but this is not expected of everyone (most of all the newcomer!). The purpose of the SCA is first and foremost to have fun.

I’m a member, and we are indeed both weird and fun. We love new members, and there’s an event coming up this weekend- a tournament, a feast, and an arts competition- here in town if you’d like to check us out. Toss together a medieval outfit or contact our chatelaine (see the website) about borrowing one for the day.
