So what does that mean? Well, in plain terms, the purpose of the SCA is first and foremost to have fun.

We dress up in period clothes and get together to show off what we’ve learned from our research, and to teach others what we know. But that’s the barebones explanation. To expand that, think of it this way: Re-creating the past not as it was, but as it should have been. Some people go all out and spend their time in the SCA striving for perfect, period accuracy, but this is not expected of everyone (most of all the newcomer!). The purpose of the SCA is first and foremost to have fun.

More at Notes
- You have to do it at least once in your life.
- Runs are not normally that rough, they way the are setup, the slowest joggers keep up with the fastest runners. You don’t have to run hard unless you want to.
- “Hash” has nothing to do with the drug. I propose formation of a City of Cincinnati fan club, a simple boosters organization whose sole purpose is to promote and encourage civic pride in our Queen City! But that’s as far as I got with the idea. A cool website that sells merchandise would be a start. We would need a lot of designs and logos.

They already have a store for us! The I Love Cincinnati Shoppe in Tower Place downtown has the right idea, but needs to work on promotion, presentation, and most definitely merchandise.(The purely Cincinnati merchandise, excluding the sports paraphanelia, leaves much to be desired.)

<img
